Tra i tesori archeologici della Sardegna, le domus de janas occupano un posto d’onore. Ma poche possono vantare una storia così viva e straordinaria come quella di “Sa Rocca”, nel centro del borgo di Sedini.

Costruita tra i 5 e i 6 mila anni fa, questa gigantesca roccia calcarea non è mai stata solo un monumento da ammirare da lontano: fino a pochi decenni fa, le sue cavità erano una vera e propria casa. E non solo. Nel corso dei secoli, Sa Rocca ha ospitato prigionieri, animali, negozi, sedi politiche e abitazioni private, trasformandosi continuamente e adattandosi alle esigenze della comunità.

La domus si trova sul ciglio del vallone di Baldana e conserva al suo interno un ipogeo funerario preistorico, con sei celle scavate nella roccia, alcune delle quali ampliate e fuse tra loro. L’accesso originale avveniva da un masso calcareo, oggi rotolato più a valle ma ancora visibile. Durante il Medioevo, nuove stanze e un focolare vennero scavati, testimoniando un uso polifunzionale che includeva anche la funzione di prigione.

Ma la vera svolta avvenne nell’Ottocento: la roccia venne sfruttata come cava di mattoni, creando ambienti ampi e abitabili su tre livelli, integrati con murature e solai. Il risultato è un complesso di 129 mq che racconta, con sorprendente chiarezza, millenni di storia, dal Neolitico all’Ottocento.

Oggi Sa Rocca è diventata una casa-museo aperta al pubblico. La sala principale conduce alle tombe più antiche tramite una scala in legno, mentre gli ambienti successivi ospitano mostre permanenti dedicate ai patrimoni culturali dell’Anglona. La domus non è solo facilmente accessibile, ma rappresenta uno dei pochi siti dell’isola utilizzati senza soluzione di continuità per millenni, un vero e proprio ponte tra passato e presente.
