Do you want to spend a perfect summer day in Cagliari? In the morning you must stop at Poetto, the magnificent beach of Cagliari: about 8 kilometers of beach framed by the unique silhouette of the Sella del Diavolo. Lunch in one of the many kiosks on the seafront and away, ready for an evening of shopping and culture in the streets of the historic city center.

.At nightfall, when the sunset fills the sky with gold and reminds us that it is time for dinner, to escape the traffic and the heat of the city, there is an oasis of relaxation a few kilometers from the center where you can spend an evening outdoors the best meats from all over the world, fresh homemade pasta and selected labels of spirits.

La Vecchia Fattoria was born in Selargius, a village of capers, civraxiu, and sapa bread, almost 20 years ago from the passion of the Contu family for local products, good food, and hospitality. And, today more than ever, it continues on the wave of this tradition that has made it famous. Thanks to the experience and skills acquired by the owners around the world, here every lunch or dinner becomes a real gastronomic experience.

Our summer evening begins with different proposals on the menu: “Mare & Tavola” and “All we can Grill”, preceded by the Tagliere del Fattore, a selection of local, national, and international hams and cheeses accompanied by homemade finger food, such as panadine, coccoi prenas, panzerotti.

The first, strictly handmade, in summer give the best of themselves. All the doughs of the different shapes of fresh pasta are prepared with ingredients that make them unique: undecided between the different proposals of strozzapreti, Bbq with hemp or blue rocket and pistachio, we decided to try them both. Apt and recommended choice.

Continuing with the second courses, it is impossible not to taste the meats: at the Vecchia Fattoria you can go around the world through the meat and the expert grillers in the kitchen will delight you with fine cuts. Taste the Avileña Negra (Galician breed par excellence), the Simmenthal (one of the oldest existing cattle breeds in the world, originally from Switzerland), the Iberian Wagyu (a meeting between native breeds of cattle of Spain with the famous Japanese cattle, Wagyu), the Rubia Gallega (the top of red meat, from cattle strictly bred in the wild, the Angus (one of the oldest cattle breeds, originally from Scotland and the Angus region from which it takes its name), thus becomes a taste experience.

After dinner we move to a new area of the restaurant, with reserved tables. In the cool of the night and under a starry summer sky, comes the tasting board with cheeses, chocolates and dried fruit accompanying selected spirits. Rum and whiskey from the best labels to accompany us towards the conclusion of our special evening.

Sara Montalbano, nata a Cagliari nel 1993, è una fotografa che ha saputo trasformare il ritratto in una forma di narrazione emotiva, capace di raccontare l’interiorità delle persone oltre l’apparenza. La sua carriera inizia nella ritrattistica e nella fotografia di moda: nel 2012 trascorre un anno a Oxford in uno studio fotografico, prima di partire per Jakarta, in Indonesia, dove lavora per due mesi con una casa di moda che collabora con le principali riviste del gruppo Femina e partecipa alla settimana della moda di Jakarta come fotografa ufficiale.

«Definirei il mio stile autentico, senza tempo e profondamente nostalgico», racconta Sara. «È una fotografia che nasce dal desiderio di andare oltre la superficie, di cercare la poesia nascosta in uno sguardo, in una postura, in un silenzio». Con il tempo, la fotografa si è resa conto che ogni immagine rappresenta una mappa visiva personale del paesaggio dell’anima umana, un viaggio che va oltre la mera estetica.

Nel 2018 si trasferisce a Londra, dove sviluppa il proprio linguaggio fotografico ascoltando la creatività e le emozioni. L’esperienza più intensa arriva nel 2019, quando trascorre sei mesi a Londra dedicandosi al ritratto emotivo: fotografava quindici persone a settimana, con uno sfondo nero, uno sgabello e un flash. Questo periodo le insegna che la fotografia più potente nasce dalla semplicità e dalla capacità di accogliere l’emozione senza costruirla. Nello stesso anno, vive tre mesi in Asia (India, Vietnam, Thailandia e Birmania) per progetti personali di ritrattistica e fotografia di viaggio, consolidando la sua capacità di osservare le persone e i luoghi con profondità emotiva.

Il suo lavoro si concentra su storie intime e reali: ogni ritratto diventa un esperimento emotivo, un’occasione per far emergere la personalità e la bellezza autentica del soggetto. Le sue ispirazioni arrivano da epoche lontane: fotografia di moda degli anni ’30, musica parigina, jazz e musica brasiliana, mondi che portano con sé eleganza malinconica e lentezza, oggi quasi perdute.

Sara cerca una realtà emotiva, non oggettiva. «Non mi interessa documentare ciò che è visibile a tutti, ma ciò che emerge solo se ci si prende il tempo di ascoltare. Ogni fotografia è filtrata dal mio sguardo, dalla mia storia e dalla relazione che si crea con la persona davanti all’obiettivo». La connessione con i soggetti nasce prima dello scatto: parlano, condividono silenzi e, quando la persona smette di preoccuparsi di come appare, il ritratto prende vita. Da questa esperienza nasce The Portrait Session, il suo servizio di punta, raccontato anche su Instagram con @theportraitsession, dedicato a chi desidera ritratti autentici e personali.

La firma visiva di Sara si manifesta in luce diretta ma morbida, ombre profonde, fondali scuri e colori contenuti, spesso attraversati da una malinconia silenziosa che diventa segno di verità emotiva. «La tecnica è uno strumento», spiega. «Le mie immagini sono il risultato di tutto ciò che ho vissuto: cambiamenti, distanza, incontri e memoria familiare».

Oggi Sara è tornata a Cagliari, pronta a mettere la propria esperienza al servizio delle piccole e medie imprese, aiutandole a espandersi online anche a livello internazionale attraverso la fotografia. Per lei, la fotografia rimane memoria e immaginazione, un incontro umano prima ancora che un’immagine. «Voglio lasciare che siano le persone che fotografo a guidarmi, aprendo uno spazio in cui possano emergere i loro lati più intimi», conclude.
