Senza l’ausilio di alcuno strumento musicale, la polifonia si genera dall’incastro perfetto tra la voce solista e il coro, un equilibrio dove il singolo scompare per dar vita a un suono ancestrale. La clip non è solo una performance, ma un vero e proprio documento divulgativo che mostra la “meccanica” di una delle tradizioni vocali più antiche e originali del Mediterraneo.

La forza dei Tenores di Orosei affonda le radici in una cronologia familiare straordinaria. La storia del gruppo inizia idealmente nel 1638, quando Bacchisio Mula e Sebastiana Sale edificarono la Chiesa del Rosario a Orosei. Da allora, per dieci generazioni, la famiglia Mula ha custodito i canti sacri delle confraternite e quelli profani del repertorio locale. Questa eredità è giunta fino ad Angelo “Angheleddu” Mula, pilastro del canto liturgico scomparso nel 1985, che ha tramandato i segreti di questa vocalità al nipote Tore Mula, oggi voce solista e anima del gruppo, che a sua volta ha iniziato il figlio Francesco all’età di soli sei anni.

Ciò che rende i Tenores di Orosei unici nel panorama internazionale è la capacità di spaziare con estrema fedeltà tra due mondi: quello sacro, legato alle confraternite religiose con i canti in latino e sardo (come lo Stabat Mater e il Miserere), e quello profano del canto a tenore. Questa dualità ha permesso loro di mantenere un’interpretazione pura, quasi identica a quella antica, diventando i custodi viventi di un sapere ricevuto dagli anziani.

Nonostante il legame viscerale con le proprie radici, il gruppo ha saputo aprirsi a contaminazioni audaci, portando la voce della Sardegna a Parigi, Oslo, Praga e Budapest. Negli ultimi anni, la loro curiosità artistica li ha portati a collaborare con la jazzista Zoe Pia nel progetto “Indindara”, un viaggio sonoro tra arcaico e avanguardia, e con artisti del calibro di Moses Concas, Enzo Favata e i corsi A-filetta. Dalle esibizioni nei festival jazz più prestigiosi fino al suggestivo “Silent Concert” nelle Grotte di Nettuno, i Tenores di Orosei continuano a dimostrare che una tradizione, per restare viva, deve saper dialogare con il presente senza mai perdere il proprio respiro ancestrale.
