Signature meats, fresh flavored pasta, and fine spirits: the summer of the Old Farm

Do you want to spend a perfect summer day in Cagliari? In the morning you must stop at Poetto, the magnificent beach of Cagliari: about 8 kilometers of beach framed by the unique silhouette of the Sella del Diavolo. Lunch in one of the many kiosks on the seafront and away, ready for an evening of shopping and culture in the streets of the historic city center.

.At nightfall, when the sunset fills the sky with gold and reminds us that it is time for dinner, to escape the traffic and the heat of the city, there is an oasis of relaxation a few kilometers from the center where you can spend an evening outdoors the best meats from all over the world, fresh homemade pasta and selected labels of spirits.

La Vecchia Fattoria was born in Selargius, a village of capers, civraxiu, and sapa bread, almost 20 years ago from the passion of the Contu family for local products, good food, and hospitality. And, today more than ever, it continues on the wave of this tradition that has made it famous. Thanks to the experience and skills acquired by the owners around the world, here every lunch or dinner becomes a real gastronomic experience.

Our summer evening begins with different proposals on the menu: “Mare & Tavola” and “All we can Grill”, preceded by the Tagliere del Fattore, a selection of local, national, and international hams and cheeses accompanied by homemade finger food, such as panadine, coccoi prenas, panzerotti.

The first, strictly handmade, in summer give the best of themselves. All the doughs of the different shapes of fresh pasta are prepared with ingredients that make them unique: undecided between the different proposals of strozzapreti, Bbq with hemp or blue rocket and pistachio, we decided to try them both. Apt and recommended choice.

Continuing with the second courses, it is impossible not to taste the meats: at the Vecchia Fattoria you can go around the world through the meat and the expert grillers in the kitchen will delight you with fine cuts. Taste the Avileña Negra (Galician breed par excellence), the Simmenthal (one of the oldest existing cattle breeds in the world, originally from Switzerland), the Iberian Wagyu (a meeting between native breeds of cattle of Spain with the famous Japanese cattle, Wagyu), the Rubia Gallega (the top of red meat, from cattle strictly bred in the wild, the Angus (one of the oldest cattle breeds, originally from Scotland and the Angus region from which it takes its name), thus becomes a taste experience.

After dinner we move to a new area of the restaurant, with reserved tables. In the cool of the night and under a starry summer sky, comes the tasting board with cheeses, chocolates and dried fruit accompanying selected spirits. Rum and whiskey from the best labels to accompany us towards the conclusion of our special evening.

A journey of flavor and taste accompanied by passion and commitment: a history behind it and a present in the name of contemporaneity and internationalization.
