Si chiama Shigeaki Sugeta (77 anni) ed è docente in pensione di filologia romanza presso l’università di Tokyo. Il suo vocabolario si chiama: “Vocabolariu sardu de 1500 paragulas” e ha l’intento di promuovere il sardo come “lingua che più di tutte è vicina al latino”.
Recentemente lo studioso ha visitato la Sardegna per un giro di conferenze volte ad approfondire i suoi studi in merito alla cultura e alla lingua dei sardi.
Il prodigioso docente riesce a rapire i sardi su argomenti che trattano la loro lingua, a volte coinvolgendo isolani che non hanno più la padronanza di questo strumento comunicativo. Incredibilmente il professore nipponico si presenta salutando in “Limba”, destando stupore tra le platee che assistono alle sue lezioni. Il professore ha insegnato il sardo per 31 anni a Tokyo, la sua passione per la nostra lingua nasce dalla consapevolezza della sua peculiare arcaicità e per essere l’ archetipo più prossimo al latino ormai morto.
Shigeaki Sugeta ha scoperto il sardo grazie all’incontro con il professor Giuseppe Pittau, professore sardo campi danese che nei primissimi anni Ottanta diventò rettore della Sofia University a Tokyo. Il professore denuncia un certo snobismo da parte della classe intellettuale italiana ed europea nei confronti di una lingua tanto importante per comprendere l’evoluzione delle lingue romanze dal latino. Pare che nessuno al di fuori della Sardegna abbia approfondito gli studi sulla lingua sarda.
Il professore vorrebbe riportare in auge lo studio del Sardo e attuare una sorta di unificazione lessicale che tratti il nostro idioma come indipendente e assestante nei confronti delle altre lingue, a prescindere da tutte le varianti.
